NEW and RETURNING Fan Groups for WasabiCon 2014

WasabiCon is a fan convention – so, since Year One, we’ve invited Fan Groups to come out and promote themselves, host panels, and generate interest in their respective passions.  We have begun the process of confirming fan groups for WasabiCon 2014.  Each of these will have a presence at the convention and will host panels/events relating to their respective groups.
The 1701st Fleet (herein referred to as ‘The Fleet’) is a Star Trek based costuming club and fan organization. Members of The Fleet purchase and/or create (and wear) the various costumes worn by the characters of the Star Trek franchise, which includes but is not limited to the films, comics, books, games, and television shows based on Star Trek. The U.S.S. Navras, which serves as the flagship of The Fleet, initially began in 2010 as a handful of gamers from the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game known as Star Trek Online, who wanted to do more than simply create a gaming guild.  (You can read more here.)

The Umbrella Corporation Jacksonville (Home of the 219th Brain Surgeons) are a costuming group based on the Umbrella Corporation from the Resident Evil series of games and movies.
