Peter Behringer, owner of Sweet Pete’s, was raised in the chocolate industry. In 1985, when he was eleven years old, his mother opened a family chocolate business, which grew to encompass 32 locations and a large production facility. After college, Behringer applied his experience in the industry with an on-going education to further hone his chocolate and candy making expertise. In 2010, Behringer decided to strike out on his own and opened Sweet Pete’s candy shop, located in a whimsically decorated historic home. He quickly went to work, utilizing his confectionary expertise to make the majority of Sweet Pete’s candy by hand.
Peter’s scrumptious, colorful and handcrafted candies steadily gained attention and notoriety in the Jacksonville area. In 2014, Sweet Pete’s was featured on the CNBC hit reality seriesThe Profit, where entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis applies his capital and expertise to lead companies to success. Out of thousands of businesses, Lemonis chose to work with Sweet Pete’s, and a natural partnership flourished.
After appearing on The Profit, Sweet Pete’s opened a new Jacksonville location in the historic Seminole Club, a building that dates back to 1903. The notable location, which hosted a number of well-known visitors such as Presidents Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower and John F. Kennedy, sat vacant for ten years until Sweet Pete’s and Lemonis renovated the property. This new confectionary emporium is a vast 23,000 sq. ft., making it one of the largest candy shops in the United States.
Today, Sweet Pete’s manufactures a line of handcrafted quality chocolates and sells over a thousand different types of candies. The new location boasts a fully functioning factory with an interactive gallery, two large retail areas, a full restaurant and bar, rooftop patio and dessert bar. Sweet Pete’s also features an event center that offers space for children’s field trips, catered events and parties. Peter also finds joy in sharing his expertise with others by teaching the art of candy making. The fun-filled educational environment includes Sweet Pete’s Sweet Science Classes, hands-on interactive candy making sessions and birthday parties. Sweet Pete’s is run by a group of naturally fun people who are committed to creating the Sweetest Destination on Earth. We can’t wait to see what the team from Sweet Pete’s will be adding to our WasabiCon 2016 swag bags!!!

We’re thrilled to have TGER as a WasabiCon 2016 sponsor!!!
First and foremost: THANK YOU! The outpouring of concern during Hurricane Matthew for our convention and our event team was overwhelming. We truly to have the greatest fans in North Florida.
Power was restored to the office (fully) yesterday, and we’ve begun the hectic process of playing catch up for the lost week of production time during the month of our convention. Please be patient with us/the team over the next few days as we work to get everything caught up.
THAT SAID – we can confirm that the Lexington (our host property) weathered the storm and Hurricane Matthew’s presence will have zero impact on WasabiCon 2016. The show is scheduled to go – and we look forward to seeing you all the weekend after next.
DUE TO THE HURRICANE, however, we will be extending ticket pre-sales from October 15th (Saturday) to Monday the 17th. This is to give folks time to get their advance tickets in order to score a free swag bag. (See this post for details.)
You can buy your tickets online here: www.WasabiCon.com/Tickets

Jenna Esposito is a business woman, cosplayer, crafter, and Wonder Woman superfan based out of Jacksonville, FL. Recognized in the region as an award-winning cosplayer and one of Folio Weekly’s Favorite Cosplayers in Jacksonville, she has enough credential to make Diana Prince gasp. Not only was she hired by the Jacksonville Sharks football team as Wonder Woman herself, she donates her time and efforts to charity causes via the Jacksonville Heroes Alliance.
Not afraid to venture into non-Wonder Woman cosplay territory, she is also a noted member of the North Florida Jedi Academy. In 2016, she was invited as a guest model to GAAM (Games Art and Music) to display her talent as the Mortal Kombat queen Sindel.
As many women can relate, Jenna expands her crafty nature into her other true love: shoes. Her internationally selling shoe and fashion business, Shoebeedoo Boutique, has garnered sales from around the world. Her expert in the craft dons the feet of many a blushing bride, as well as power fans at conventions everywhere.
Though boasting her enviable collection of 1978-to-now Wonder Woman merchandise, closet of Wonder Woman outfits, and guest appearances, Jenna considers her greatest legacy and achievement her two teenage daughters. Determined to lead them down the path of nerdy glory, they often accompany her in awe-striking cosplays, reminiscent of Wonder Woman herself.
We’re thrilled to have one of Jacksonville’s best known cosplay personalities as a part of WasabiCon this year!
